Cowboys Gain $9.5M Cap Room; Shopping Spree?

And in the Dallas Cowboys' case, the earlier decision to designate Michael Gallup as a post-June 1 cut will result in $9.5 million in room, which will go toward their salary cap rather than the Jones family itself.

The Cowboys cap is really, really rich, I tell you. Not so quickly.

What I believe to be a sobering response to the question "What will Jerry and Stephen Jones spend this windfall on?" naturally arises.

It makes sense to consider whether Dallas can now re-sign free agent Stephon Gilmore.

 However, he is coming off shoulder surgery and will turn 34 in September. If he is looking for a multi-year deal, this "All-In/Blow It Up" Cowboys team might not be the right fit for him at this time.

How about Linval Joseph, a free agent defensive tackle? Excellent concept—which is unrelated to the $9.5 million. Dallas currently has roughly $4 million in available space, even without that assistance;

if the Joneses wanted to do that, that would be more than enough to entice Joseph.

2-It has also been speculated that the $9.5 million will now enable and expedite Dak Prescott and/or CeeDee Lamb's contract extensions.
