Indiana Fever picks Caitlin Clark first in 2024 WNBA Draft.

The Indiana Fever selected Caitlin Clark with the first pick in Monday's WNBA Draft, eight days after she finished one of the best collegiate basketball careers ever recorded.

Clark is primed to not only help the Fever to the playoffs for the first time since 2016, but also to shake up the WNBA at a pivotal juncture in its history.

"I think I'm just really excited," Clark told NBC News over the weekend.

Clark accomplished remarkable levels of success throughout her four seasons at Iowa. She scored 3,951 points, the most in NCAA Division I history for both men and women

She also set a single-season record for 3-pointers, appeared in two national championship games, and was voted National Player of the Year twice.

Those are just a few of her achievements from a career so productive that Iowa announced last week — less than a week after her college career finished — that her No. 22 jersey would be retired.

Clark frequently appeared in front of sold-out crowds, and her games broke television ratings records.

South Carolina's 2024 national championship victory over Iowa was seen by 18.9 million viewers on ABC,

with a peak audience of 24.1 million – a 90 percent increase from the 2023 title game and a 289 percent increase from 2022. The game smashed viewership records set just days before in Iowa's Elite Eight matchup against LSU.
