Return to Caitlin Clark, Iowa in Sweet 16 excites CU women.

Second chances are extremely rare in life, and much more so in sports.

But that's precisely what the Colorado women's basketball team faces on Saturday in a Sweet 16 game against the sport's best talent, Caitlin Clark of Iowa.

JR Payne's team, which was eliminated in the same round of the NCAA Tournament last year by the same club headed by the same great player,

is hoping for a second shot to reach the program's first Elite Eight in 22 years.

“You don’t often get this chance to play the same team you lost to last year in the Sweet 16,” junior guard Kindyll Wetta said. Excited, we are. We still feel we have much to prove.”

Despite road wins against No. 12 seed Drake and No. 4 seed, and host, Kansas State, the No. 5 Buffaloes are back as underdogs.

Payne's team faces the top-seeded Hawkeyes. They will also portray villains.

Since Clark might play LSU for the national title in the Elite Eight, most Americans want his final collegiate season to continue.
