Sixers Expected to Sign 6-Time Star for $100M

Plan A may fail for the Philadelphia 76ers. Offseason choices may help, though. Possible option: DeMar DeRozan.

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report explained why DeRozan would fit with them as his peak winds down.

“Signing the six-time All-Star as a third offensive option next to Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey could leave Philly with $20 million in cap space to sign another starter or re-sign De'Anthony Melton, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Kyle Lowry.

This season, DeRozan averaged 24.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 48.0 percent shooting. The Sixers need his durability (74 games or more in all three years with the Bulls) given Embiid's injury history, Swartz wrote.

Swartz highlighted why DeRozan may not be their first choice, but this may benefit both parties.

They may not have chosen this, but the Sixers can acquire an All-Star wing and DeRozan can make one last huge payout by joining forces this summer.

Contract Prediction: Three years, $100 million with team option.”

Six All-Stars and three All-NBA teams have been made by DeRozan. Despite entering his mid-30s, he's still going strong.
