Stars beat Oilers 5-3 in Western Conference final thanks to Jason Robertson.

Edmonton (AP)— The Dallas Stars defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-3 on Monday night to grab a 2-1 lead in the NHL's Western Conference final after Jason Robertson scored his first playoff hat trick midway through the third period.

Dallas' other goals came from Wyatt Johnston and Miro Heiskanen into the empty net. Jake Oettinger saved 26. Roope Hintz, Tyler Seguin, and Jamie Benn each earned two assists.

Edmonton's Stuart Skinner made 17 saves as Connor McDavid scored and assisted for 100 playoff points. Zach Hyman and Adam Henrique also scored.

Dallas is 6-1 in the playoffs away from American Airlines Center after regaining home-ice advantage and having the league's best road record.

Hintz returned to the Stars after missing Game 4 of the second round against the Colorado Avalanche due to an upper-body ailment.

“We gutted it out while (Hintz) was out,” Dallas coach Pete DeBoer said. We found methods despite it being less lovely than tonight when he was out. Even without a star, guys contributed.

I'm most proud of that. I was glad he returned tonight, but I'm proud of how we managed his absence."

After missing seven of Edmonton's last eight games with a suspected ankle ailment, Henrique returned. Hintz, the Stars' top center, returned after a four-game upper-body injury.
